Portugal’s last friendly was against China in Coimbra. Goals in either half from Hugo Almeida and Liedson allowed the Seleccao to emerge 2-0 winners on that occasion. Carlos Queiroz’s men have not lost a single game in international competition in the past twelve months and are expected to comfortably beat Cape Verde on home soil, especially with players like Nani, Cristiano Ronaldo and Simao in their side.

Little is known about the Cape Verde team, but they do have the added advantage of having most of their players ply their trade in Portugal. Cape Verde’s last three international results have been impressive. They thrashed Guinea 5-0, beat Malta 2-0 and held fancied Angola to a 1-1 draw.
