This is Newcastle’s last friendly prior to a mouth watering season opener against old rivals Manchester United. It is also their second consecutive away friendly after their win on penalties over Deportivo La Coruna.

The game against Deportivo ended goalless at the end of normal time, thereby forcing it into a shootout. Peter Lovenkrands, Kevin Nolan, Andy Carroll, Ryan Taylor and Joey Barton were successful from 12 yards out as the Magpies prevailed 5-3 in the shootout and took home the Teresa Herrera Cup. Spanish forward Xisco has been impressive in pre-season and manager Chris Houghton will be hoping that he can carry on his good form against the Gers.

This is Rangers’ second last friendly prior to the commencement of the new Scottish Premier League season. The Gers had one loss, one draw and one win in the recently concluded Festival of Football in Australia. They beat Blackburn, drew with Sydney FC and lost to AEK Athens.
