Liverpool will be beginning their friendly tour of Asia with a matchup against the national football team from Thailand on Wednesday July 22nd. OleOleFootball is your source for a number of major club friendlies starting with the Thailand V Liverpool game.
Liverpool has not started off the pre-season well so far as they only managed to tie St. Gallen by a score of 0-0 and then were beaten by Austria Vienna. Steffen Hoffman led the way for Austria Vienna thanks to a winning goal in the second half off of a free kick. In other poor news for Liverpool, Steven Gerrard has not been sent with the team to Asia however it appears that players such as Xabi Alonso will be back in the lineup.
The team from Thailand is coached by Peter Reid who is better known for managing teams such as Leeds, Sunderland, and Manchester City. He has been coaching their since 2008 and has inspired his team to not be intimidated about facing a top European team. They have had a much better pre-season than Liverpool after dominating Pakistan by a score of 4-0 in another friendly and Reid has them fired up for the game on Wednesday. Look for players such as Teerasil Dangda and Teerathep Winothai to make an impact and try to cast aside the strong Liverpool team.
It will be intriguing to see whether or not the Reds from Liverpool can overcome their poor performances so far and come out strong against Thailand and overcome the international team. Thailand will be looking to stun Liverpool and Liverpool will be looking to prove that they are on top of their game. It should be an exciting example of international friendly competition and you don’t have to miss a moment of the live international football action, thanks to OleOleFootball.
