Ramsey broke his leg while playing for Arsenal against Stoke City and has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Man City’s Craig Bellamy has not been selected as Toshack tries to build a team capable of making it through European qualifying. In Bellamy’s absences, either James Collins or Ashley Williams are expected to lead the Welsh squad. Toshack has also recalled Fulham’s Simon Davies to the squad.

Like Wales, Sweden will also play this friendly without their best attacker- Barcelona’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish squad contains several youngsters who impressed in the European U-21 championships last year- Rasmus Elm, Pontus Wernbloom, Marcus Berg and Ola Toivonen being the notable ones. Sweden failed to qualify for the World Cup, finishing third behind Denmark and Portugal in Group 1.
