Martin O’Neill’s Villa team were beaten 2-1 by Bohemians in Dublin on Saturday. The Irish side took the lead when an error from Villa keeper Brad Friedel allowed Conor Powell to lob home. Villa replied midway through the second half through Norwegian striker John Carew, who nodded in Marc Albrighton’s cross at the far post.

However French trialist Enzo Fuentes gave Bohemians a famous win when he collected Paddy Madden’s pass and smashed a powerful 20 yard effort past Friedel nine minutes from time.

Walsall were beaten 2-0 by Coventry City in their last pre-season friendly. The Saddlers lost 2-0 to the Sky Blues thanks to second half strikes from Freddy Eastwood and Shaun Jeffers.
