Atletico Madrid’s season in La Liga appears to be going from bad to worse. Before last weekend’s home game against Mallorca, coach Abel Resino was sacked and replaced by Quique Sanchez Flores, but this still wasn’t enough to bring victory over the islanders. This Saturday coming Atletico travel to Bilbao to face an Athletic team who themselves have been falling away alarmingly in recent weeks. See how these two get on by joining us here at oleolefootball.watchlive.net and enjoying the live footy from La Liga at its very best.
Atletico Madrid fans are enduring a torrid season so far, with their team winning just one of their eight La Liga games played so far. Last weekend they hosted Mallorca and still couldn’t manage a win, despite having the new manager in place. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, but this doesn’t even begin to tell the story of the game. Mallorca found themselves reduced to ten men as early as the 27th minute, and when the lost another player to a red card in the 52nd minute, the writing looked well and truly on the wall.
Atletico scored from the penalty spot when Forlan converted in the 52nd minute, but instead of kicking on and taking the game by the scruff of the neck against nine players, Atletico retreated into themselves and paid the ultimate price when against all the odds Mallorca scored an equaliser in the 91st minute.
Athletic Bilbao for their part lost 2-0 at Getafe last weekend. After winning their first three games of the season they have not recorded a victory since suffering four defeats and one draw in the process.

Atletico Madrid now have their fate in their own hands when it comes to Champions League qualification after last weekend’s home win against fellow Champions League qualification candidates Valencia. This weekend the travel to Bilbao in a match you can watch live and online right here at oleolefootball.watchlive.net – the place to be for live stream football.
Since their 5-1 humbling at Racing Santander, Atletico have reeled off four successive victories which has seen them rise to that coveted fourth spot in the La Liga table. With this fixture against Bilbao and a home fixture against Almeria to follow, Atletico will feel they have every chance of holding on to the prized position, especially considering the fact that this week's opposition Athletic Bilbao have a very average home record that reads played eighteen, won nine, drawn two and lost seven.
They also have the advantage of having a striker in Diego Forlan who is in sparkling form and appears to be knocking in goals for fun. No wonder there has been renewed interest in the player’s services from England’s Premier League, and most notably Manchester City. Forlan is sitting second in the scorer’s table on 28 goals, only one behind leader Samuel Eto’o of free scoring Barcelona.
For their part, Athletic Bilbao come into the match on the back of a 1-0 away defeat to Espanyol and consequently sit eleventh in the league table with 44 points. They are safe from any relegation issues, so do not really have anything to play for, which depending on the way you look at it, could or could not benefit Atletico.
