Barcelona remain tied on points with Real Madrid at the top of La Liga with Real Madrid keeping the number one spot due to goal difference. Barcelona need just one more point from their remaining three games to regain the La Liga title after a year’s absence. They could have clinched it at the Nou Camp last weekend but were denied by a 92^nd minute equaliser from Villarreal, who at the same time spoilt the title party that was planned for the city that evening. The team travel to Mallorca on Sunday looking for that solitary point, which will then let them relax and look forward to the Champions League final against Manchester United on May 27^th. When Villarreal hit the equaliser last Sunday to make the score 3-3 at the Nou Camp, it was like the Catalans had lost the title! Huge parties were organised for the celebrations, with firework displays, et al. Although the dark mood soon dissipated, Barca fans will probably be denied a Nou Camp celebration as the team only need a point on Sunday, and will, in all probability, achieve it.

Before hand though, the Catalans have the small matter of the Spanish Cup final to traverse on Wednesday evening, when they will come face to face with Athletic Bilbao in Valencia. It could turn out to be a very, very impressive season if they can add the cup to the (probable) league title as well as having a chance at winning the Champions League in Rome.

Mallorca, for their part, will try to spoil the party and come into the game on the back of a 3-1 away defeat to Seville. They are tenth in the table with 45 points and are safe from relegation.
