Numancia v Real Madrid Live

Numancia will hope for a turnaround in form after losing three of their last four games in the La Liga, with the most recent a 4-1 away defeat against league leaders Barcelona. The defeat was perhaps unfair on Numancia after a goal-less first half in which Numancia had a goal disallowed and numerous other chances to take the lead. However, Barcelona turned on the class in the second half to fire four past the hapless Juan Pablo.

Manager Sergio Kresic told of his disappointment at the defeat but hopes the club can turn it around in time to avoid a return to the Segunda Division, from which they earned promotion last year as league champions.

Real Madrid meanwhile are yet to lose in 2009 with four wins in four games, yet the club still remain twelve points behind rivals and league leaders Barcelona. Madrid still have hopes of clinching the title for a second season in a row but face an uphill challenge as Barca continue to dominate and the Catalan side have not lost since the opening day of the season.

Los Blancos come into the game after an impressive 3-1 win against bottom-of-the table side Osasuna and will hope that Barca slip up at Racing Santander to close the gap to 9 points. Sergio Ramos, Gonzalo Higuain and Arjen Robben were all on the score-sheet against Osasuna, whilst Madrid have dropped their appeal to register new signings Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Lassana Diarra for the UEFA Champions League.
