Atletico Madrid hosted Real Zaragoza just before La Liga took a two week break for international fixtures and to the huge relief of the players, management and more importantly, the fans they recorded their first victory of the season. Much to the relief of everybody involved though, Atletico held on for their first three points (victory) of the season.

For their part, Ossasuna go into the match against Atletico on the back of a 2-1 away defeat to Getafe, which brought to an end the mini revival they were enjoying, having won their previous two games. They are now twelve in the league with seven points to their name and have a home record that reads won once, drawn once and lost once so far this season.
