Lyon suffered an impromptu defeat in their last Ligue 1 game which took place this last weekend, but still managed to retain top spot albeit on goal difference. For their part, Nice come into the game against Lyon on the back of a 4-1 drubbing away to Lorient. As a consequence they find themselves languishing in nineteenth position in the Ligue 1 table with only eight points to their name. In their four games at home so far this season they have accrued one win, one draw and two defeats.
