When these two teams met in the reverse fixture at the Bridge, Arsenal won a topsy turvy encounter 5-3 that exposed defensive chinks in both squads. The Gunners however go into this game on the back of a shock 2-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic on Monday night.

Wigan, who aren’t exactly known for scoring goals in the first half this season, netted two within the first ten minutes to go 2-0 up. Thomas Vermaelen’s header pulled one back for Arsenal, but they were unable to get the second goal they needed.

This is the culmination of a busy week for Chelsea, having played Tottenham in the FA Cup on Sunday and clashed against Barcelona in a midweek Champions League tie.

Arsene Wenger's starting line-up will include their captain Cesc Fabregas who was an injury doubt ahead of the cancelled game against Stoke. Manager Guus Hiddink has basically accepted defeat in the race for the Premier League, but the Blues could still manage to clinch the title if rivals Manchester United and Liverpool slip up in the remaining three games. They will have to be at their best in this clash though, to have any chance of catching their rivals.

Chelsea will again be without Portuguese trio Deco, Paulo Ferreira and Ricardo Carvalho, who are all long term absentees. Midfielder Joe Cole is also out for the rest of the season. The Chelsea boss has a decision to make in attack with Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou vying for a spot on the left wing.
