Birmingham come into the game on Saturday against the Gunners in sixteenth position in the Premier League table with a grand total of nineteen points. They did, however, enjoy a great result at home against Manchester United in their last game which took place this past Tuesday evening, the 1-1 draw coming courtesy of a goal from Ian Bowyer in the last minute of the contest.

Although the point gained was one they hadn’t really expected to pick up, it was nevertheless gratefully accepted. The team have to kick on from here though if they want to distance themselves from the relegation battle, and a good performance and ultimately points gained from Arsenal at the weekend is a must.

Arsene Wenger and his players will have other ideas in mind though. They come into the game on the back of a fantastic 3-1 demolition of Chelsea last Monday evening and the team now sit in third position in the Premier League table, just three points off leaders Manchester’s United and City.  The London club do, though, have one game in hand over United and two over City.

The win on Monday evening finally proved that this Arsenal team is coming of age and they have just as much chance of winning the league as any of the other top four or five teams. Wenger is well aware though that his team have a tendency to fall away somewhat in the second half of the season so will be looking to arrest this particular statistic.
