Alex McLeish will be hoping Birmingham skipper Stephen Carr will be able to pick himself up after being responsible for gifting Sunderland’s goals last weekend. Defender Carr should have enough character to come back from his penalty mistake and his own goal. Ben Foster in goals who had his debut last weekend was looking good and comfortable in his role at number No.1. Larsson who already has two assists to his name will hope to be provider yet again. Any improvement on their ninth place finish last year will have to include Cameron Jerome scoring more goals. Nikola Ziti may find his way in to the team as a start as the giant target man gives the team more options.
Sam Allardyce will be looking for a repeat of his side’s clean sheet this time on the road. The boss will be looking for Diouf and Nikola Kalinic to be alert once more and Steven N’Zonzi will keep his place after David Dunn picked up a groin injury. N’Zonzi who was player of the year last season will be out to impress Sam again and secure his place in the starting lineup. Prior to this past weekend's games which as of writing this article are unknown, Birmingham City have been undefeated in the English Premier League for six matches. The run included four wins and two draws and as such as seen the team move up the table to ninth position. Again prior to the weekend, Alex McLeish’s team have won their last three league games on the bounce and look to be in great form going into the busy Christmas period that the Premier League is famous for.
Overall this season, Birmingham City have won six, drawn three and lost a further six games from their fifteen games played as of writing this. Their record at St. Andrews is fairly average; won three, drawn two and lost two of their seven games prior to the weekends. On Saturday they were due to play struggling West Ham United, again at home, so the team have a very good chance of boosting their already great stats for the season.
Blackburn Rovers travel to Birmingham on Tuesday without a win in the previous three games (prior to the weekend) and this run has coincided with manager Sam Allardyce’s absence due to a minor heart operation. Allardyce is back at work now so he will be hoping his team can also return to winning ways.
