Rovers slumped to the bottom of the league table after a loss to Stoke City last weekend. Some shambolic defending from Steve Kean’s side saw Rory Delap given a free run to nod in Jermaine Pennant’s free kick.

Kean could only sit and fume on the sidelines when his defenders were similarly caught napping for Glenn Whelan’s and Peter Crouch’s goals. Ruben Rochina netted a late goal for Blackburn, but it was nothing more than mere consolation for a side that need to get their defensive act together in order to survive in the league.

Swansea, rocked by the news of Gary Speed’s death hours before their game last week against a strong Aston Villa outfit, had no such problems in defence as they played out a goalless stalemate.

Struggling Blackburn will be hoping that Swansea can do them a favour when the two sides clash on Saturday.
