Spurs were widely expected to end Newcastle’s unbeaten league run last weekend. They took the lead twice in the game but paid the price for not holding on to it as the Magpies hit back on both occasions to grab a 2-2 draw.
Spurs’ first goal of the game was scored from the spot by Rafael van der Vaart. The second was a brilliant turn and shoot effort from substitute Jermain Defoe who showed both control and power while netting the goal.
The last four games between the two clubs have all gone the way of Spurs. Blackburn, currently at the bottom of the league, drew 1-1 with Queens Park Rangers in their last game.
Spurs will look to keep Blackburn rooted to the bottom of the table when the two sides meet at Ewood Park on Sunday.

Blackburn Rovers and Spurs are separated by three places and eight points in the league table but the two teams are a mile apart in terms of ability at the moment. With Blackburn’s new owners talking big about their vision and spending ability many fans were expecting more to happen in the January transfer window but with just Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz and Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones nobody is feeling really let down. The players have been shred signings and with Steve Kean seeming to radiate positivity the players may have a shock in store for Spurs on Wednesday.
Spurs have had a little low point after an amazing first half of the season which was so impressive that two draws and a loss is seen as a ‘low point’ for the London club. Steven Pienaar has been brought in to help out in midfield but with such a strong set up he is going to have to work hard for the right to play. The team have had their sights on Champions League football all year and now is the time when Harry Redknapp will be turning the screws and pushing his players. With talk of huge sums being offered for their star player Gareth Bale Spurs fans will be forgiven for thinking that this is a case of DeJa Vu as the club has become known as selling club but with Redknapp digging his heels in he should be rewarded by performances from his players on Wednesday. See how they line up and watch the game with live streaming football from oleolefootball.watchlive.net.
Ever since his Spurs side thrashed Wigan 9-1, Harry Redknapp hasn’t seen his team win in the Premier League. That is three games without a win, a run which has seen the side drop to fifth in the league table from a high of third. This sequence of winless games could end before the weekend trip to Blackburn in the English Premier League though as Spurs have a midweek home game against Manchester City to traverse. See how Blackburn and Spurs get on in their game at the weekend by tuning into oleolefootball.watchlive.net and enjoying the live streaming football from England at its very best.
Sam Allardyce’s Blackburn side have not won in three Premier League games; in fact the last three have all been 0-0 draws. The side do have a midweek trip to Birmingham City to contend with before the visit of Spurs on Saturday, but all midweek results are as yet unknown as this article was written before they played.
Blackburn’s last 0-0 prior to the midweek games was at Hull City and Allardyce must now be worrying about his misfiring forwards. Although three games without conceding a goal would be deemed a good run, not scoring for three games could also be deemed as a barren run in front of goal.
Notwithstanding their midweek encounter with Manchester City, Spurs come into the game at Ewood Park on the back of a surprise 1-0 home defeat to lowly Wolves. The defeat meant that Tottenham have now gone three league games without a win and boss Harry Redknapp will quite rightly start to be feeling a bit worried. Two positive results this week though could change all that in a flash.

Tottenham make this trip in good form after two excellent victories. In their last outing they defeated title chasers Chelsea 1-0 at White Hart Lane, Luka Modric scoring the winner. Tottenham have won three out of the last four games and drawing the other game. They are also six games unbeaten in all competitions.
