The Toffees have slipped into the bottom half of the table following successive defeats to Manchester City and Liverpool. Against the Reds, they were unlucky to lose Jack Rodwell early and ended up chasing a game they actually started well. Liverpool eventually prevailed 2-0, with both goals coming in the second half.

Chelsea, on the other hand, thumped Bolton Wanderers 5-1 at the Reebok. Frank Lampard announced his return to form with a fabulous hat trick while young striker Daniel Sturridge pressed forth his claims with a brace.

Fernando Torres will again sit this game out as he is suspended. The Spanish striker is currently serving a three game ban for his red card in the Swansea game.

Chelsea will again be without Fernando Torres when they host David Moyes’ Everton at Goodison Park this weekend.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti will welcome David Moyes and his Everton side to Stamford Bridge on the Saturday 4th December 2010 for a Premier League fixture that could revive a Chelsea side that has taken their foot off the pedal. Last season Everton beat Chelsea once and drew 3-3 with them in Stamford Bridge. David Moyes has not seen his team win any of their last five games in the Premier League and will not be full of confidence going in to this game. Last week they lost by four goals to one at home in what was a thoroughly unconvincing display. No doubt Moyes will have had a word in a few of the player’s ears and the fans should see a different side at the Chelsea game. Everton are in fact travelling better than many people think and have not lost any of their last five on the road. With Cahill and Arteta available they have a great chance of scoring at least.

The Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti will know he has to get the result against Everton to make sure their recent slump in form is put behind them. Despite losing two and drawing one of their last three league games Chelsea are still in second place in the league. They will be boosted by the possible return of the team captain John Terry who could play. The Chelsea back room will assess his readiness after training on Tuesday and he could face fitness tests throughout the week Frank Lampard is also expected to return training this week. The blues manager will expect a solid display once again with live streams from oleolefootball.watchlive.net.

Chelsea travelled to Eastland’s last Saturday in what was always going to be a difficult match. No matter how difficult a match appears for the Chelsea team, they never expect to lose but on Saturday Mark Hughes’ Manchester City team had other ideas. Despite going into the game on the back of seven successive league draws, and despite the fact that they fell behind to an early Chelsea goal (own goal by Adebayor), City found the strength and resilience to fight back and goals from Adebayor (in the right net this time) and Carlos Tevez sealed a famous win for the City team.

Chelsea boss Ancellotti was philosophical in defeat, but it does now mean that his Chelsea side have now lost three times on the road this season. They do, however, still lead the way in the Premier League stakes and have 36 points as compared to Manchester United’s 34 points. Saturday’s game against Everton will give them a chance to redeem last weekend’s reversal as currently their home form reads seven wins from seven games.

Everton are not enjoying a great season so far. They have only won once in their last nine league games, and have only won four times from fifteen games all season. Last weekend they managed to pinch a draw at home to Tottenham, despite losing 2-0 up until the 79th minute and keeper Tim Howard saving a penalty in the 95th minute!

Guus Hiddink’s title chasers Chelsea play host to a team with European ambitions this season Everton. The London Blues are desperately in need of three points in their fight for the Premier League title. The visitors won’t be pushovers though, as they themselves are looking to clinch a European place for next season. Chelsea claimed a 4-3 victory over Bolton in their last Premier League game. Didier Drogba scored a brace, along with strikes from Michael Ballack and Frank Lampard were enough to claim three points for the Blues. Andy O’Brien, Chris Basham and Matt Taylor hit back for Bolton, but the side from Stamford Bridge held on to stay in the title race. Guus Hiddink’s arrival at the club has resulted in an upturn in fortunes, after a poor start to the season under former Brazilian World Cup winner Luis Felipe Scolari.

Portuguese right back Jose Bosingwa is still a slight doubt for Chelsea. If the defender doesn’t recover Branislav Ivanovic will continue in his position. Hiddink will decide between Nicholas Anelka and Salomon Kalou for the left wing role.

Everton drew 3-3 with Aston Villa in their last Premier League outing. The Toffee’s held a two goal lead twice, before losing the lead. Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini gave the Merseysider’s the lead, before John Carew got a goal back. Steven Pienaar scored a third for Everton, but they couldn’t hang on with Villa hitting back through goals from James Milner and Gareth Barry. It could turn out to be a crucial point for David Moyes side in the pursuit of another European campaign next season.

The Everton manager has received an injury boost, with striker James Vaughan and defender Joseph Yobo both returning to full training in recent weeks. He will have a dilemma whether to restore the Nigerian international Joseph Yobo to his starting line-up or stick with England pair Joleon Lescott and Phil Jagielka at the heart of his defence.
