Manchester City will play Blackburn Rovers in the City of Manchester Stadium in front of their home fans for the first meeting of these two teams this season. You can join the supporters by watching live football streams at oleolefootball.watchlive.net. This game should be an easy win for Mancini but he is definitely under more pressure to get the points than Sam Allardyce, and Blackburn could prove to be another stumbling block.

The Manchester City defence has been pretty impressive lately except for the slip up against Sunderland and Micah Richards and Vincent Kompany have been outstanding. Boateng is injured though so there could be an opportunity for 21 year old Javan Vidal to break in to the side. Kolarov who came from Lazio is also injured and so is new striker Balotelli. This shouldn’t be a problem for City though as they have a huge number of quality players that are competing for games.

They would have expected to be in a much better position right now with only four points from three games they are lagging behind expectations. It’s far too early for fans to stand at Mancini’s door with pitchforks but this is the sort of game he has to win at home.

Big Sam’s side will have smelled fear and know that they can win this game if all goes right for them. They have not had too much luck as of yet this season but they will be keen to turn it around on Saturday. This is the sort of game that El Hadji Diouf relishes and he will no doubt be his usual nuisance up front. Morten Gamst Pedersen is also regaining his confidence and has put his shooting boots back on narrowly missing against Arsenal. Manchester City take on Blackburn Rovers at Eastland’s this coming Monday evening, weather permitting of course, for an English Premier League fixture. Premier League Live

The weather in the United Kingdom has started playing havoc with the country’s sporting fixtures, and football has been no exception with a spate of postponements. Manchester City’s first leg of the semi-final against Manchester United in the Carling Cup that was scheduled for Wednesday evening at the City of Manchester Stadium was one of the games to fall foul of the arctic conditions currently sweeping Britain at the moment.

This though could end up a blessing in disguise for City and their players as it will give them an extra few days to recover from what has been a hectic Christmas schedule. Last weekend City didn’t have a league game as it was FA Cup third round weekend. The team travelled to Championship side Middlesbrough and won 1-0 to progress through to the next round. In their last league game they travelled to Wolves and won comfortably by 3-0.

Blackburn Rovers had a similar situation to Manchester City. They too were due to play A Carling Cup semi-final first leg tie at home to Aston Villa on Tuesday evening, but this too was postponed. Coincidentally, Rovers faced Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round last weekend at Villa Park, but lost the match 3-1.

Manchester City are currently ninth in the Premier League, after winning their last game 2-1 away at Everton. City produced an impressive performance, with goals coming from Brazilian striker Robinho and midfielder Stephen Ireland. Everton’s consolation goal came from youngster Dan Gosling in injury time. The victory took them just three points behind Fulham in seventh position and the last Europa League qualification spot.

Manchester City have doubts over striker Benjani, who is struggling with a thigh strain and also England Shaun Wright-Phillips, who has an ankle injury. They are also still without long term injury absentees Pablo Zabaleta and Craig Bellamy.

Blackburn look set to secure their Premier League status, after they defeated Wigan 2-0 at Ewood Park in their last Premier League game, Rover’s goals coming from Benni McCarthy and defender Ryan Nelsen. The victory took the side from Lancashire six points clear of the relegation zone. They now only need one more victory to take them to the magic 40 points total, which is considered by many to be the number of points needed for survival. Manager Sam Allardyce has also stated that he believes one more victory will be enough to see them safe this season.

Blackburn will be without strikers Jason Roberts and Roque Santa Cruz, who are both unlikely to play again for Rover’s this season. Benni McCarthy and makeshift striker Christopher Samba are likely to start up front, with attacking options short for Sam Allardyce’s side.
