Manchester City lost their last game 3-1 to Fulham at Eastlands, so will want to bounce back from that defeat, with victory over bottom of the table West Brom. Stephen Ireland scored their only goal against Fulham with a deflected effort. The Fulham defeat left City six points behind the last European spot. City do however have a impressive home record of five wins out of the last six games at Eastlands. Mark Hughes side will hope his side can continue that excellent home record against the Baggies.
City midfielders Vincent Kompany and Shaun Wright-Phillips could both return after missing the visit of Fulham last weekend. However Craig Bellamy is a bit more of a doubt for Mark Hughes side, the Wales striker has a knee problem and could miss this clash.
West Brom drew 2-2 at Portsmouth in their last Premier League outing. The point was hard earned but it might not be good enough, with the Baggies currently five points from their nearest rivals Middlesbrough and seven points from Premier League safety. The Baggies now look resigned to playing in the Championship next season, but with a good run of form they could still manage the great escape. Unfortunately for the Baggies their last victory came 11 games ago against fellow strugglers Middlesbrough.
Gary Megson is likely to start with the same side that won the point at Fratton Park. That means that young Scot Graeme Dorrans could continue in midfield after impressing at Pompey. West Brom’s top scorer Roman Bednar may return but may well start the game on the bench.
