After being knocked out of the FA Cup at home to League One side Leeds United the week before, Manchester United travelled to in-form Birmingham City last time out and managed to come away with a 1-1 draw. Although Sir Alex’s side had much the better of the first half, it was the home side that took the lead on 39 minutes. United had to wait until 63 minutes were on the clock before they managed an equaliser, and this came courtesy of a Birmingham City own goal.

United also had Darren Fletcher sent off in the latter stages of the game and he will now be missing from the team to take on Burnley on Saturday. This loss is a huge blow for Man United as they currently have a lot of defensive players on the injury list.

Burnley travels to Manchester on the back of a 2-1 away cup win at League One side the MK Dons. Apart from this though, nothing else looks cheery for the long suffering Clarets fans as they have lost their manager in the interim to bitter rivals Bolton.
