In their last Premier League game this past Saturday, United defeated Burnley 3-0 at Old Trafford. But, if ever a score line flattered the victorious team, this was it. Sir Alex Ferguson’s team were nowhere near their best and it would be no exaggeration to say that star man Wayne Rooney carried the whole team on his shoulders.

The win and three points only papered over the cracks that seem to be appearing on United’s wall and with a Carling Cup semi final first leg at the City of Manchester Stadium against Manchester City to come on Tuesday evening, United could be in for another torrid time, with no guarantee the score line will favour them this time round.

Against Burnley on Saturday, United were very poor, and if Burnley’s strikers had worn their shooting boots on the day we could have had a very different outcome. As it happened, Berbatov opened the scoring on 64 minutes and that man Rooney added a second five minutes later. Youngster Diouf scored his first United goal in the dying minutes.

Hull travels to Old Trafford on the back of a great 0-0 draw away to Tottenham last time out. They have reached nineteen points for the season, although they are still in eighteenth position. Away from home they have four draws and seven defeats from their eleven games.
