The Red Devils, despite being beset by injuries, did enough to beat their bitter rivals 2-1 ten days ago. By doing so, they ensured that they stayed only three points behind leaders Manchester City, who had seen off third placed Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 earlier in the same day.

United broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time and although Robin Van Persie equalised for Arsenal in the second half, the Red Devils cranked up their play that extra gear and managed to find a late winner through Danny Welbeck.

Stoke suffered a rare defeat to West Bromwich Albion as they went down 2-1 to the Baggies at the Britannia in Round 22. Cameron Jerome netted Stoke’s goal that afternoon.

It is the Red Devils vs the Potters as Manchester United meet Stoke this weekend in the Premier League.

United’s draw at Birmingham was indicative of many away games the team have played this season – taking the lead only to be pegged back in the last few minutes of the games to a draw. Nevertheless, thanks to the inconsistency of the rest of the teams in the Premier League this season, United remain top and that is testament to their good form at home.

Stoke are currently sitting mid-table (tenth) in the Premier League standings with 24 points and have had an average season so far. Their away record so far this season reads played nine, won three, drawn one and lost five.
