Portsmouth will face Arsenal hoping to secure one more victory to make sure of their Premier League status for next season. In their last game Portsmouth drew 0-0 at Newcastle and the point could prove crucial at the end of the season. Pompey are now seven points clear of the relegation zone, with just four games remaining. Manager Paul Hart has done a superb job since taking over from Tony Adams, dragging the south coast side out of the relegation zone into mid-table.

Portsmouth fight for relegation took a blow with the news that midfielder Niko Kranjcar has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury. However defender Younes Kaboul could return after missing the Newcastle with a thigh strain.

Visitors Arsenal are now 20 games unbeaten in the Premier League, after the Gunners defeated Middlesbrough 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium in their last game. Two goals from Cesc Fabregas were enough to clinch Arsenal’s fifth win in six games. The Gunners are now set to finish in the fourth Champions League spot, with the Gunners ten points clear of nearest rivals Aston Villa in fifth place. Arsene Wenger’s side have scored 22 goals in their last seven games, largely thanks to Russian forward Andrey Arshavin finding form, contributing six goals in nine appearances.

Arsenal are without defenders Gael Clichy and William Gallas, with the later out for the rest of the season through a knee ligament injury. Strikers Robin Van Persie and Eduardo Da Silva are also doubtful for the trip to the South Coast.
