QPR put in a mixed display in their midweek tie against Aston Villa. They took the lead through debutant Djibril Cisse and went 2-0 up when Villa defender Stephen Warnock scored a bizarre own goal.

However the Hoops fell apart in the second half as Villa came roaring into the game and it was only thanks to the efforts of Paddy Kenny in goal and Nedum Onuoha at the back that they managed to come away with a point.

Wolves held Liverpool goalless for a half, but turned in a poor display after the lemon break as the Reds netted thrice to hand Mick McCarthy’s side a convincing 3-0 loss. If Wolves win this weekend, they will go level on points with QPR in the league table.
