Stoke City started the season on a good note, however losing their streak in matches that followed. They have won only two of their eight matches. Their team though has played with some intent. Stoke will be looking to bounce back from defeat to Fulham last time out and find themselves only one win away from securing their Premier League status. Their opponents West Ham are fighting it out for the last Europa League place and will be hoping to secure three points at the Britannia Stadium. Stoke suffered a 1-0 defeat at Fulham in their last Premier League game, the only goal coming from Norwegian striker Erik Nevland. Despite that defeat Stoke look safe from relegation and one more victory here could cement their place in the Premier League for next season. Stoke have been in decent form of late, winning four out of the last seven games and dragging themselves away from the drop zone.

Stoke have doubts over defenders Andy Wilkinson and Abdoulaye Faye, both have back injuries. Tony Pulis will leave it till the last minute to decide whether the pair will play or not. Midfielder Salif Diao is also a doubt with a groin strain, but he is less likely to take part in this clash.

West Ham suffered a blow in their quest for European football next season, losing 1-0 at home to Chelsea in their last Premier League game, Salomon Kalou scoring the only goal of the game. The result took the Hammers to eighth, two points from seventh place and the final European spot. They received a boost this week with manager Gianfranco Zola signing a new contract at the club. The little Italian has turned the club around since his arrival, the side going from the relegation zone to fighting for a place in Europe.

West Ham have major injury problems with Carlton Cole, Jack Collison, Valon Behrami, Dean Ashton and Danny Gabbidon all still missing from the squad. Midfielder Scott Parker could figure in this game though, but he is still rated as a doubt with a groin strain.
