West Ham United have got the unenviable job of welcoming all conquering Chelsea to Upton Park. West Ham suffered their third straight Premier League defeat in midweek when they lost 3-1 at fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers. The defeat actually meant that Bolton and West Ham swapped positions in the league table – West Ham dropped to second bottom with fourteen points while Bolton move up to seventeenth with sixteen points.
Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola will be really feeling the heat now as his team goes from one bad result to another. West Ham find themselves in seventh place after earning a creditable draw at Aston Villa in their last Premier League game. Emile Heskey put Villa in the lead before Spanish striker Diego Tristan equalised with just five minutes remaining. The Hammers are now just one point clear of Fulham and Tottenham in the race for the last Europa League spot. West Ham have had a mixed season so far winning twelve games, losing twelve and drawing nine.

The Chelsea manager will have to decide whether to select Nicholas Anelka or Salomon Kalou on the left wing, but Jose Bosingwa is a doubt, he is however expected to be fit enough to start at right back. Branislav Ivanovic is likely to replace the Portuguese star if he isn’t passed fit.
