Last Saturday Wigan entertained in form Sunderland in a Premier League game that was open to any result. At the end of the day it was the home side that put a dent into Sunderland's great recent streak by running out 1-0 winners, thanks to a goal from Rodallega in the 76^th minute. Where else in the world can a team lost 9-1 one match and then go on to beat an in form, high flying team the next? Great for the fans, great for the television audiences around the world, but maybe not so great for the beleaguered Premier League managers!

For their part, Birmingham City enjoyed a great 1-0 win at bitter Midland rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend – a result which moved them up nicely to eleventh in the Premier League table with eighteen points to their name. Alex McLeish will be very pleased that his team have gone five Premier League games without defeat.
