The Latics will welcome Wolves to the DW Stadium to play their seventh league game of the season. Both these sides are down the bottom half of the table and three points would make a massive difference to their campaign. Will the home fans witness a defeat to the visiting side of Mick McCarthy or will Wigan Manager Roberto Martinez get the win? You can see which team has the upper hand with live streaming football at oleolefootball.watchlive.net.
Out of the two teams, it’s Wigan that will feel the more confident going in to the game and the home fans will be a helping factor. Hugo Rodallega the 25 year old Columbian striker is playing well but is expected to do too much on his own. He needs to have some better service from his midfield if he is to provide the goals they need. He was rested against Preston but returned to the line up when they played Birmingham. He will be a probable start against this weekend and this could be a good opportunity for him to find the back of the net again.
Mick McCarthy will have other ideas about that and will be convinced that the game against Wigan can be a spring board to push them up the table. They have had a string of bad results in the league and three points away from home will be a massive boost to morale. The trouble is they have to stop leaking goals at the back as they will not win unless they can fix their defensive issues. The newly promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers will be engaging in their second game of the 2009-10 EPL season and will be looking to prove that they belong. They will take Wigan Athletic in a battle of two teams that had very different opening games. Will the Wanderers be able to turn it around or will Wigan Athletic prove that they are a contending team this year? Tune in to OleOleFootball and watch Wolverhampton v Wigan Athletic live on Tuesday August 18th to find out.
Wolverhampton looked to be a little lost in their opening game as they lost by a score of 0-2 to West Ham. They were guilty of ball watching on both of the goals they allowed and were not able to get much started offensively. Mark Noble and Matthew Upson scored goals for West Ham and the Wanderers are going to need a much better start against Wigan if they want to compete.
In a much more surprising opening game Wigan Athletic took a convincing victory over Aston Villa on the road. Wigan got a beautiful goal on a lengthy running strike from Hugo Rodallega and then Jason Koumas secured the win thanks to a brilliant effort in the second half. While the score was already 2-0 it could have been a lot worse for Aston Villa as Wigan almost put the ball in the back of the net another 2 or 3 times. All in all it was an excellent start for Wigan and they will be looking to keep it up on August 18th.
