The Scottish League Cup final takes place between Celtic and Rangers this week at Hampden Park in Glasgow as the two teams meet for another chance to claim some silverware. The Scottish League Cup, or the Co-operative Insurance Cup as its known, has been won by Rangers more times than any other team and they became the current holders for the twenty-sixth time when they won last year. St Mirren who they played in the final will not be anything like the Celtic team they face on Sunday March 20 and fans of both Rangers and Celtic will be hoping for another great battle. In the last fixture there was no love lost by both players and staff as the two teams clashed on and off the pitch. With threats of the Derby game being banned if continued incidents take place there may be a little cooling off before the game.

One thing is for sure and that is that this game is a referee’s nightmare and there will be moments of controversy that have more in common with rugby than football. If Neil Lennon can get to grips with his team early on then he could well make sure that Rangers have no trophies to brag about this year.
