The Scottish Cup has reached its fourth round stage and on Saturday Glasgow giants Celtic travel to Greenock to face struggling Division One side Morton. Celtic travels to Greenock having just traversed an Old Firm derby against bitter rivals and league leaders Rangers. That game ended in a 1-1 draw and was probably not the result Tony Mowbray and his men wanted, especially as Rangers are seven points ahead of them in the league table, albeit with a game extra.

In the Old Firm clash, Celtic had much the better of the play and finally deserved to go ahead when Scott McDonald opened the scoring in the 79^th minute. The goal gave the Parkhead faithful belief that they could reel in their rivals at the top of the SPL and reduce the deficit to just four points with a game in hand. But, with their first attempt on target in the 81^st minute, Rangers managed to equalise when McCulloch got his head to a centre, sending the travelling Rangers support into a frenzy of ecstasy.

Regardless of the weekend’s result against Rangers though, Saturday’s game is a different competition, one that the Bhoys will be desperate to win. A great start against Morton, then, is what the team require and if form is anything to go by then Celtic have nothing to worry about.

Due to a rash of postponements due to the atrocious weather conditions prevailing in Scotland at the moment (and for the past three weeks), Morton hasn’t actually played a game since December 19^th, and that was away to league leaders Dundee. They lost that encounter 3-1.
