At the moment Celtic are looking impossible to catch but when a match against Celtic in top form is followed by a visiting St. Johnstone in not such great shape it is sometimes a good confidence booster. Rangers the midfielders Steven Davies and Maurice Edu will be happy to find some freedom on the pitch that wasn’t there when they took to the field last week. That should enable them to get forward a lot more and they should get their winning mentality kicking straight back in to gear. One thing is certain and that is Walter Smith has a much more depleted squad at this stage in the season than Celtic who are getting stronger it appears but it was the team spirit that put Rangers in front in the first half of the campaign and if the Blues can get that back then they could still challenge yet.

This game should already be a done deal for St. Johnstone but that doesn’t mean that they won’t go down fighting. With Steve May starting to find the net there is always a possibility of an upset on the cards especially if Rangers sit back for any periods in this game. You can see if St. Johnstone are up for it with live streaming SPL action from oleolefootball.watchlive.net.

For the third game of the Scottish Premier League Rangers fans will welcome St Johnstone to the Ibrox Stadium. St Johnstone have both won and drawn one so far with their loss coming from current league leaders Aberdeen. The Rangers v St. Johnstone match should be a great game as Rangers come off the back of two wins and will want to keep the pressure on the other teams who have yet to drop a point. Manager Walter Smith should be reasonably confident of his side pulling of a respectable win in front of the home fans. Club Captain David Weir will be calling on Kenny Miller to produce more of the same after he had a hat trick at Hibernian. The new signings Vladimir Weiss and James Beattie may not have got on the score sheet but they were both credited with an assist and it gives Smith a nice problem of who to start in the game at home on Saturday afternoon. The goal ace Kris Boyd has hardly been missed so far and most people are predicting a tough day for new St. Johnstone keeper Peter Enkelman.

The Finn has already familiarised himself with the back of the net in the SPL and will likely continue to do so at Ibrox. Striker Marcus Haber on load from West Ham can possibly give the visitor options for counter attacks with his pace. Sam Parkin can also provide some options but a lot depends on which side turn up for St. Johnstone. It will have to be the positive side if they have any hope of visiting Glasgow and returning to Perth with a point. Watch Rangers v St Johnstone live streams at oleolefootball.watchlive.net.

Rangers will be looking to get to the final and avenging last season’s final defeat to bitter rivals Celtic. Rangers have already won this competition a staggering 25 times and will be looking to make it 26 this season. The last round of this competition was actually played way back at the end of October, with Rangers travelling to Dundee in their match and beating the home side by three goals to one.

In the Scottish Premier League Rangers are going great guns at the moment. They are currently ten points clear of bitter arch rivals Celtic in the league standings and look well on their way to regaining their Premier League crown.

This past weekend Ranger entertained bottom side Falkirk at Ibrox for a n SPL fixture, and Walter Smith’s boys cantered to an easy three goals to nil victory against their lowly visitors. Goals from Davis, Fleck and Whittaker sealed the deal for the Blue’s. They now have 54 points as compared to Celtic’s 44.

For their part, St. Johnstone made the semi finals thanks to a 2-1 home win against Dundee United in the previous round. Although they know the task against Rangers is a very difficult one, they will, nevertheless, be trying their hardest get to the final.
