Rangers played St.Mirren in their midweek game, and ended up winning 2-1. Kris Boyd gave them the lead in the 12th minute, and American midfielder Maurice Edu, only starting because of the unavailability of both Barry Ferguson and Lee McCulloch, headed in Rangers’ second seven minutes later. Although Andy Dorman did get a goal back for St.Mirren, Rangers held on to win 2-1.
However DaMarcus Beasley and Sasa Papac were added to the list of unavailable players as they suffered knocks in the game. That list is a long one- Barry Ferguson, Allan McGregor, Kyle Lafferty, Kenny Miller, Lee McCulloch, Kevin Thomson and Kirk Broadfoot are the other names on it.
Motherwell drew 1-1 against Aberdeen at Fir Park last week. Jim O’Brien’s first ever goal for the club put the Steelmen ahead, but Chris Maguire’s volley levelled the scores midway through the second half.
Aberdeen’s Andrew Considine was sent off minutes later, but Motherwell could not make their numerical superiority count. Brian McLean went mighty close with a header, but Aberdeen keeper Jamie Langfield did well to stop it. Mark McGhee’s men are currently seventh in the league with 41 points, with Hibs ahead of them on goal difference.
