Milan went to London on Wednesday night hoping to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Tottenham. Coach Allegri fielded an attacking minded lineup with Alexandre Pato, Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all starting for the Rossoneri. However despite dominating large stretches of the game, Milan failed to get the goal they needed and had to bow out of the competition.

Milan’s best chance came in the first half through Brazilian striker Robinho. The former Man City and Real Madrid forward’s goal bound attempt was however hacked off the line by Spurs defender William Gallas. There were no other major chances for the visitors as Spurs held firm thanks to outstanding performances in the heart of defence from Gallas and Michael Dawson.

Midfielder Gennaro Gattuso, who was suspended for the trip to Tottenham, is available for selection against Bari. Gattuso scored the only goal of the game when Milan won a crunch fixture against Juventus in Serie A last weekend. Bari, on the other hand, lost their weekend fixture to Udinese by the same scoreline. Antonio Di Natale scored the winner from the penalty spot after Bari’s Alessandro Parisi had brought down Alexis Sanchez in the area.

Milan have won their last three meetings against Bari, including a 3-0 win in the Coppa Italia when the two teams clashed in January earlier this year. Ibrahimovic, Robinho and young German star Alexander Merkel were on target against the Biancorossi on that occasion. Bari however did hold Milan to a goalless draw when they last visited the San Siro for a league fixture.

Milan were shocked 1-0 by Udinese on Wednesday night. The Rossoneri also ended the match with ten men after Mathieu Flamini was given his marching orders by referee Luca Banti late in the game. Flamini is therefore suspended for this weekend’s game.

Brazilian substitute Nene scored the winner for Cagliari in the 77^th minute. Jeda crossed the ball into the box, and Nene’s decent first touch allowed him to have a clean crack at goal the next second, and he did not let the chance go begging.
