Milan went another step closer to claiming the Scudetto when they beat Brescia 1-0 away from home. An excellent counter attacking move saw the Rossoneri score the winning goal of the game in the 82nd minute. Playmaker Antonio Cassano passed the ball to the unmarked Robinho, who produced a cool finish to send the home fans into delirium.
With the win over Brescia, Milan are now eight points ahead of rivals Inter Milan with just four games to play in the league. Should Milan win this weekend against Bologna, the title will be as good as theirs, unless they mess it up dramatically in the final games of the season.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is suspended for Milan, who are bidding to make it five wins in a row for the first time this season under Massimiliano Allegri. They have beaten Inter, Fiorentina Sampdoria and Brescia in their last four games and will be heavy favourites to make it five in a row against Bologna.
While Milan have won their last four fixtures, it has just been the opposite with Bologna, who crashed to their fourth straight defeat to Cesena last weekend. Bologna had more possession and more shots but some poor finishing proved to be their undoing. Still the Rossoblu are in no danger of being relegated- they have already touched the 40 point mark.

Milan needed a brace from veteran Filippo Inzaghi to claim all three points against Marseille in France on Wednesday night. Inzaghi scored once in each half, with a Gabriel Heinze strike for Marseille sandwiched between the two goals.Milan have only picked up four points from their first three games, and it remains to be seen whether coach Leonardo rings in the changes against Bologna. He opted not to start with Ronaldinho and Klaas Jan Huntelaar against Marseille. Ronaldinho in particular has been disappointing, and with the former Barca star failing to perform, Milan tend to feel the absence of the departed Kaka even more.
Bologna have picked up only two points from their first three games. They started off with draws against Fiorentina and Bari, but were well and truly beaten by Chievo last week.
The Flying Donkeys beat Bologna 2-0, but the margin of victory could easily have been more. Bologna are desperately looking for striker Marco Di Vaio to regain his scoring touch. Manager Giuseppe Papadopulo has already tried out two formations -a 3-5-2, and a 4-5-1 in his quest to get his team composition right.
When the two teams last met at the San Siro, Bologna were surprise 2-1 winners. Di Vaio and Francesco Valiani scored for the Rossoblu on that occasion, while Massimo Ambrosini scored Milan’s only goal. AC Milan will be hoping to recover from the pessimism of a poor close season when they come up against Bologna in the opener of their 2008/09 Italian Seria A season, all of which you can follow live online on oleolefootball.watchlive.net, the premium soccer streaming portal. The football streams will be up by 14:00 GMT 31st August 2008.
AC Milan will have a lot of soul searching to do after two consecutive seasons of poor domestic performances. While Milan won the holy grail of European football in 2006/07, they had nothing to show for their efforts last season and they will need to come close in the title chase if they are to please their famously notorious supporters. AC Milan have signed Brazilian Ronaldinho in the close season and the former Barcelona striker will be at the centre of any resurgence that Milan may attempt this season. Fellow Brazilian Kaka is out for this fixture while Shevchenko joins Pato up front in what is expected to be a trademark 4-4-2 Milan formation. Victory here for Milan will give them ideal start for a tough new season and although their pre-season form has been anything but consistent, they will have to be hot favourites for this clash against Bologna at home.
Bologna on the other hand have been stagnant over the past few years and they will need to improve if they are to make the switch to European football this season. However, an opening fixture against Milan might just prove to be a bit above the top and it would take a brave man indeed to bet them on coming out of San Siro with anything to show for their efforts this coming weekend.
