Atalanta picked up their second point of the new league season as they drew with Chievo Verona last weekend. Simone Tiribocchi gave Atalanta the lead on 72 minutes, scoring from a rebound after Cristiano Doni’s header hit the woodwork.

However Atalanta’s hopes of a victory were crushed when Sergio Pellissier equalised for Chievo five minutes later. Gyorgy Gyarics, the creator of the first goal, turned villain as his misplaced back pass was intercepted by Pellissier to score the equaliser. In their three games at home so far, Atalanta have drawn against Catania, and lost to Genoa and Sampdoria.

Leonardo’s problems were compounded as his AC Milan side fell to an embarrassing defeat against Swiss side FC Zurich at the San Siro on Wednesday. Milan have now not scored in their last three games, and have just picked up a solitary point from those three fixtures. Milan need to improve quickly if they are to mount a serious challenge to Inter and Juventus.

Finnish defender Hannu Tihinen cheekily backheeled in a Milan Gajic corner on 10 minutes to score the winner. It was a very well taken goal, considering that Tihinen did the backheeel when the ball was in mid air. The Rossoneri were unable to recover from that early setback and eventually slumped to defeat.
