Bari will not like the idea of facing an Inter side that has won five of its last six league games. The Apulians, in comparison, have won only one of their last six games in all competitions and are on a five game losing streak. They last picked up points in the league when they beat US Lecce 1-0 away from home in early January.
It should therefore come as no surprise that Bari are sitting at the wrong end of the table, six points away from safety. The Biancorossi were last seen in action on Sunday against Cagliari, a fixture they lost 2-1. Alessandro Matri scored both goals of the game for Cagliari within a period of four first half minutes. Bari did respond once through Stefano Okaka Chuka, but they were unable to score the second goal that would have seen them take home a point.
Inter’s new signing Giampaolo Pazzini had a dream debut against Sampdoria. The striker, signed from Sampdoria, scored twice to kick start Inter’s comeback after the Nerazzurri trailed 2-0 to Palermo at half time. Inter’s winning goal, a penalty converted by Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o, was also earned by Pazzini.
With the win over Palermo, Inter have climbed to fourth in the league standings, equal on points with AS Roma. The Nerazzurri crushed Bari 4-0 when the two sides met earlier in the season. Samuel Eto’o and Diego Milito both scored two apiece in that fixture for Inter.

After stunning wins over Udinese and Juventus, Bari failed to make it a hat trick of victories as they lost 2-1 to Fiorentina last week. Bari took the lead through Paulo Vito Barretto’s 25th minute header, but Fiorentina equalised 12 minutes later through Romanian striker Adrian Mutu.
Three minutes before the hour mark, Bari’s Sergio Almiron headed for an early bath after picking up two bookings and Fiorentina made their one man advantage count when Jose Ignacio Castillo struck the winner on 74 minutes. Almiron is therefore suspended for Inter’s visit to Stadio San Nicola.
Inter Milan came from behind to beat basement side Siena 4-3 last weekend. The Nerazzurri were trailing 3-2 with a little over three minutes left on the clock, but late goals from Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder and Argentine defender Walter Samuel gave them a 4-3 win.
Sneijder was also the scorer of Inter’s second goal, while Samuel’s Argentine compatriot Diego Milito netted Inter’s first. Siena took the lead twice in the game, but could not hold on to it on both occasions. Inter’s Romanian defender Cristian Chivu has been discharged for hospital, but he will have no part to play in this game. Samuel Eto’o scored for Inter in that 1-1 draw in August, but the Cameroon skipper is also away on international duty.
