Roma ended their three game losing run at the Olimpico by beating Chievo Verona 1-0 last weekend. Simone Perrotta’s third goal of the season, scored in the fourth minute of the game, proved to be the difference between the two sides at the final whistle. The assist for Perrotta’s goal came from Man United target Daniele de Rossi.
Mirko Vucinic wasted a host of chances to put the result of the game beyond doubt while teammate Nicolas Burdisso saw his header go the wrong side of the bar. Kevin Constant and Sergio Pellissier both went close for Chievo, but fortunately for Roma, their efforts did not result in an equaliser for the Flying Donkeys.
Bari’s Serie A fate was sealed last weekend as the Apulians went down 1-0 to Sampdoria. The result ensured that they will spend the 2011/12 season in Serie B, regardless of what they manage to do in their next four games. Bari currently have 21 points, fourteen adrift of safety.
The only goal of the game arrived shortly before the hour mark when Erik Huseklepp brought down Andrea Poli inside the area, thus allowing Nicola Pozzi to score the winner from twelve yards out. Both sides ended up with a player short on the pitch at the final whistle after Gergely Rudolf and Poli were given their marching orders by the referee.
