The Rossoblu made it three wins in a row when they beat Chievo Verona 2-1 on Wednesday night. Uruguayan defender Miguel Britos gave Bologna the lead in the 39th minute from close range after opposition keeper Stefano Sorrentino failed to hold on to Marco di Vaio’s free kick. Bostjan Cesar equalised for Chievo ten minutes later but Di Vaio struck the killer blow right at the depth to give his side all three points.

With this win, Bologna have now won four of their last five games in all competitions and are slowly but steadily moving away from the drop zone. They have nineteen points from fifteen games and are just four points behind sixth placed Sampdoria, who hold Italy’s last European spot at this moment.

Milan beat Brescia 3-0 last weekend to maintain their three point lead at the top of the table. Goals from Kevin Prince Boateng, Robinho and Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave the Rossoneri a comfortable victory.

Milan however did taste defeat in midweek as they went down 2-0 at the San Siro to Ajax Amsterdam. The result of the game was however inconsequential as Milan had already qualified for the knockout stages. Defender Thiago Silva and midfielder Mathieu Flamini picked up injuries in the loss to Ajax and will not feature this weekend against Bologna.

Livorno held Milan to a disappointing draw last Saturday at the San Siro. Milan took the lead through Ambrosini in the 44th minute. However Lucarelli equalized for Livorno in the 53rd minute. Huntelaar missed a great chance to score the winner and end Milan’s three match winless streak right at the end. Milan are now eight points behind Inter and are falling behind in the title race.

Milan will welcome Amantino Mancini who arrives on loan from rivals Inter. Marco Borriello, Alessandro Nesta, Massimo Oddo and Andrea Pirlo are all fit for the match. But defender Oguchi Onyewu is out with a long-term injury. Milan have no players suspended for the game.

Bologna are on a four match unbeaten run. They secured a point against Chievo Verona away from home in their last Serie A match. Marco Di Vaio scored for Bologna in the 11th minute before Sergio Pellissier replied in the 49th minute to end the match in a draw.

No Bologna players are suspended for the game, however five Rossoblu players are a booking away from suspension. Franco Colomba would be pleased to have Stephen Appiah, Marco Zalayeta and Massimo Mutarelli back from injury, while Antonio Busce is still out. New signing Andrea Pisanu will provide another option for the Rossoblu manager who has recruited five players in the recently concluded transfer window.
