The Rossoblu made it three wins in a row when they beat Chievo Verona 2-1 on Wednesday night. Uruguayan defender Miguel Britos gave Bologna the lead in the 39^th minute from close range after opposition keeper Stefano Sorrentino failed to hold on to Marco di Vaio’s free kick. Bostjan Cesar equalised for Chievo ten minutes later but Di Vaio struck the killer blow right at the depth to give his side all three points.

With this win, Bologna have now won four of their last five games in all competitions and are slowly but steadily moving away from the drop zone. They have nineteen points from fifteen games and are just four points behind sixth placed Sampdoria, who hold Italy’s last European spot at this moment.

Milan beat Brescia 3-0 last weekend to maintain their three point lead at the top of the table. Goals from Kevin Prince Boateng, Robinho and Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave the Rossoneri a comfortable victory.

Milan however did taste defeat in midweek as they went down 2-0 at the San Siro to Ajax Amsterdam. The result of the game was however inconsequential as Milan had already qualified for the knockout stages. Defender Thiago Silva and midfielder Mathieu Flamini picked up injuries in the loss to Ajax and will not feature this weekend against Bologna.

No Bologna players are suspended for the game, however five Rossoblu players are a booking away from suspension. Franco Colomba would be pleased to have Stephen Appiah, Marco Zalayeta and Massimo Mutarelli back from injury, while Antonio Busce is still out. New signing Andrea Pisanu will provide another option for the Rossoblu manager who has recruited five players in the recently concluded transfer window.
