Second from bottom Brescia remained in the relegation quagmire as they went down 3-0 to Genoa CFC last weekend. Brescia managed to keep the game scoreless for nearly an hour and it seemed as if they would manage to pick up a vital point in their quest for survival.

However Rafinha broke the deadlock when he headed in a cross from Rodrigo Palacio on the hour mark. Palacio was also involved in Genoa’s second goal as his cross was diverted by Brescia’s Gaetano Berardi into his own net. Luca Antonelli added a third late in the game for Genoa as they saw off the Biancoazzurri 3-0 in front of their home fans.

AC Milan saw off Sampdoria last weekend to move eight points clear of defending champions Internazionale. Goals from Clarence Seedorf and Robinho, on either side of a penalty from Antonio Cassano allowed the Rossoneri to comfortably overcome the Blucerchiati at the San Siro.

Milan were also seen in action in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night. The Rossoneri drew the fixture 2-2, thereby handing the visitors a slight advantage ahead of the second leg. Milan took the lead through Zlatan Ibrahimovic but goals from Javier Pastore and Abel Hernandez allowed Palermo to go 2-1 ahead. However with a quarter of an hour left on the clock, Dutchman Urby Emanuelson struck a vital goal to earn his side a share of the spoils.
