Roma needed a win against Inter on Wednesday to have any hopes of progressing to a final meeting against Palermo. However the Giallorossi could only draw 1-1, leading to them being knocked out 2-1 on aggregate by Inter.

Catania sent Brescia back to Serie B as they won 2-1 last week in the league to eliminate their hosts. Matias Silvestre’s fierce 27^th minute effort put Catania ahead at Mario Rigamonti. The visitors doubled their lead when Alejandro Gomez set up Gonzalo Bergessio for the second goal of the game on 75 minute. Brescia did pull one back through an Alessandro Diamanti free kick in stoppage time, but it was not enough to prevent Catania from going home with all three points.
