The fixtures against Inter Milan and SSC Napoli were considered to be must wins for Roma in order for them to pose a serious challenge for the title. But the Giallorossi faltered on both occasions as they failed to collect even a single point. They lost 5-3 to Inter and also slumped to a two goal defeat against Napoli.

The loss to Napoli saw Roma drop to 8^th in the league, a good thirteen points behind leaders Milan. Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani bagged a brace for Napoli on that occasion. The first goal came from the spot after Roma defender Juan had been penalised for a foul on Marek Hamsik. The other came seven minutes from time and was set up by Paolo Cannavaro.

The game however attracted more attention for the incident involving Roma’s Aleandro Rosi and Napoli’s Ezequiel Lavezzi that allegedly saw the former spit in the direction of the latter.

Genoa drew 0-0 in Apulia against Bari last weekend, thus denying new opposition coach Bortolo Mutti a win in his first game in charge of the club. Stefano Okaka Chuka did manage to find the back of the net for Bari in the second half, only for the referee to disallow the goal. Genoa’s best chance of the game went to Rodrigo Palacio who was unable to make the most of the opportunity that came his way.
