Inter have struggled to get going in the league and are now a whopping nine points off the pace. The Nerazzurri have drawn two and lost two of their league games in November and went down 2-1 to Chievo Verona last weekend.

Chievo went 2-0 up thanks to goals in either half from Sergio Pellissier and Davide Moscardelli before Samuel Eto’o pulled one back for Inter in the dying minutes. However fans across the world will remember Eto’o in this game more for him doing a Zidane than scoring a goal. The Cameroon skipper head butted Bostjan Cesar in the 38^th minute and was lucky not to be sent off.

Inter’s players looked short on confidence against Parma and their growing injury list has not helped their cause either. Their best performer against Chievo was keeper Luca Castellazi, who produced several decent saves to prevent the Flying Donkeys from scoring more.

Parma extended their unbeaten league run to three games as they drew 1-1 with Lazio last weekend. Veteran Argentine striker Hernan Crespo, a former Lazio player himself, put Parma ahead midway through the first half. However an own goal from Luca Antonelli allowed Lazio to equalise just before the interval. Parma are eight places below Inter, but only five points separate them from the Nerazzurri in the table.

Inter were clinical in the way they tore their bitter rivals apart a fortnight ago. Thiago Motta scored his first goal for Inter to give them the lead, and two more goals from Diego Milito and Maicon ended the match as a contest as Inter lead 3-0 going into the break.

There was still room for a fourth however, and Dejan Stankovic completed the rout midway through the second half as Inter reaffirmed their status as title favourites. Dutch winger Wesley Sneijder is a doubt for this game with an ankle injury.

Parma finished second in Serie B last season, and will be looking to emulate the feat of fellow minnows Bari when they travel to Milan this weekend. Gialloblu coach Francesco Guidolin has stated that his side will give the Nerazzuri a run for their money.

Parma have had a good start to the new season. They drew with Udinese in their opening game, and then beat Catania 2-1 at home. Daniele Galloppa and Alberto Paloschi were the scorers for Parma against Catania. Paloschi has scored in both of Parma’s league games this season, and the youngster will be keen to get on the score sheet against Jose Mourinho’s men.
