Juventus edged out Siena on Saturday thanks to Amauri’s 72^nd minute strike. Brazilian playmaker Diego was the creator of the goal, whipping in a free kick which was converted by Amauri. Juventus currently have eighteen points from nine Serie A games, and are four points behind leaders Internazionale and two behind second placed Sampdoria.

Coach Ciro Ferrara is likely to persist with Amauri and David Trezeguet upfront as Vincenzo Iaquinta has been ruled out with a knee injury. Juve’s attack has not exactly been able to terrorise opposition defences- they have only scored four times in their last six games in all competitions.

Sampdoria have had a great start to the season, and as stated above, sit two points above Juventus in the league table going into this game. The Blucherchiati could even start being tipped as unlikely title contenders if they beat the Old Lady in Turin on Wednesday.

Luigi Del Neri’s side thrashed Bologna 4-1 on Saturday as they extended their unbeaten run in the league to four games. Samp scored all four goals in the first half. Giampaolo Pazzini started the scoring in the eighth minute, and Daniele Mannini netted twice on either side of Reto Zeigler’s 26^th minute effort as the Ligurian outfit strolled to victory at the Comunale Luigi Ferraris.

Sampdoria have lost only once on the road this season. That was against Fiorentina last month. With Inter facing a tough game against in form Palermo on Thursday, Sampdoria can put pressure on Jose Mourinho’s side by beating Juventus a day earlier.
