The Bianconeri were beaten 3-1 by Napoli on Thursday night. Juventus took the lead through defender Giorgio Chiellini in the 7th minute and kept it till the end of the first half. Marek Hamsik missed an early second half penalty for Napoli, but the Slovakian atoned for his miss by heading the Partenopei back into the game. Late strikes from Fabio Quaglirella and Ezequiel Lavezzi completed a fabulous comeback for the hosts.

While Juve lost 3-1 to Napoli, Atalanta beat Cagliari by the same scoreline on Wednesday night. Chilean midfielder Jaime Valdes scored a brace in the second half after Simone Tiribocchi had broken the deadlock on 53 minutes. It was Atalanta’s second consecutive win in the league after their 3-0 triumph over Livorno a few days ago.

Juventus drew 1-1 with AC Milan last week- a result that all but ended Milan’s hopes of winning the Scudetto. Both the goals came in the second half of the match. Veteran Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf gave Milan the lead, but striker Vincenzo Iaquinta equalised for La Vecchia Signora three minutes later.

Both Zdenek Grygera and Paolo De Ceglie picked up knocks against Milan. De Ceglie will however recover in time for the Atalanta match. Regular left back Cristian Molinaro is injured, while Giorgio Chiellini is suspended for the game against Atalanta. Juventus still have a chance to finish second, but that would require in form Milan to play badly in their remaining games.

Atalanta are currently in a safe mid table position in the Serie A. The Orobici currently have 45 points from 35 games, and are 11th in the table going into this weekend’s round of fixtures. Atalanta have picked up only 13 points from a possible 51 away from home.

Luigi Del Neri’s men drew 1-1 with Genoa last week. Jaime Valdes’ 9th minute strike put Atalanta ahead, and it stayed like that for most of the match until Domenico Criscito snatched a late equaliser for the visitors. Atalanta also had Tiberio Guarente sent off fifteen minutes from time, and he will therefore miss the trip to Turin.
