The Bianconeri have had a terrible start to the new year. They were first thrashed 4-1 by Parma at home and then lost 3-0 to second placed Napoli last weekend. All three Napoli goals were headers scored by the same person- Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani.

Juventus did however manage to win their midweek Coppa Italia tie against Catania but that victory also came at a cost as new signing Luca Toni joined leading scorer Fabio Quaglirella on the sidelines. The injury to Toni leaves the Bianconeri desperately short on attacking firepower with Amauri, Alessandro Del Piero and Vincenzo Iaquinta now the only available striking options for coach Lugi Delneri. Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo missed out on last week’s trip to Naples due to suspension and will again be an absentee against Bari this weekend.

Bottom of the table Bari suffered their first league loss in 2011 last weekend when they were beaten 2-0 by Bologna at home. The result was Bari’s 11^th league loss of the 2010/11 season. The home side had their chances in the game, with Stefano Okaka Chuka and Vitaly Kutuzov both going close. Bari stunned Juventus 1-0 when the two sides had met earlier this season. Midfielder Massimo Donati scored the only goal of the game on that day for the Apulians.
