Juventus were looking to make it three wins in a row against Lecce, but surprisingly slumped to a 2-0 defeat against the Salentini. Juve coach Luigi Delneri was upset with the result and lashed out at his players for not being able to take three points from an easy fixture.

The Bianconeri had goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon sent off in the 12th minute of the fixture for handling David di Michele’s effort outside the penalty box. That forced Delneri to make an unwanted change by removing Serbian playmaker Milos Krasic and bringing on reserve keeper Marco Storari.

From then on, Juventus were always on the back foot and Lecce took full advantage to establish a two goal lead through Djamel Mesbah and Andrea Bertolacci. Giuseppe Vives’ red card in the second half also saw Lecce reduced to ten men like Juve, but the Salentini held on to their lead and emerged deserved victors at the final whistle.

Buffon is suspended for this fixture as a result of his red card. Midfielder Momo Sissoko returns from his suspension, but four other Juve players are a card away from missing the Bianconeri’s crucial next fixture against Milan.

Juventus have an excellent home record against Bologna. They have not lost in the last twelve home meetings against the Rossoblu and have suffered only defeat to them once in the last decade and a half.

Juventus drew 2-2 with Genoa on Thursday night. Vincenzo Iaquinta gave Juve the lead after Mauro Camoranesi had fooled Genoa’s backline by dummying Claudio Marchisio’s pass. However Genoa equalised through Giandomenico Mesto, who rose to meet Giuseppe Sculli’s cross after half an hour.

Mesto turned provider in the second half as his cross allowed former Inter and Chelsea forward Hernan Crespo to head the Rossoblu ahead on 75 minutes. Giorgio Chiellini had his 84th minute strike disallowed for offside, but Juventus grabbed their equaliser through substitute David Trezeguet after Genoa failed to deal with a Fabio Grosso free kick properly.

Bologna picked up their first win of the new Serie A season when they beat Livorno 2-0 at home. Daniele Portanova and Marco di Vaio scored in either half to give Bologna a much needed win. The result took some pressure off the shoulders of under fire Bologna boss Giuseppe Papadopulo, who was given a vote of confidence by the club’s president ahead of the game.

Massimo Mutarelli will miss this game after undergoing an operation to repair a ruptured ligament. Also unavailable for the visitors is Davide Bombardini, but Giuseppe Papadopulo can again count on Roberto Guana and Rafael Santos for the tough trip to Turin this weekend.

Juventus currently trail Inter on goal difference, and will be under pressure to win if Jose Mourinho’s men beat Sampdoria away from home on Saturday.
