Napoli drew 1-1 with Catania last weekend. In form striker Edinson Cavani put the Partenopei ahead in the 39th minute of the fixture when he slotted into the bottom left corner after collecting a cross from Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Catania equalised half an hour later through Alejandro Gómez and both sides had to eventually be content with a share of the spoils at the final whistle. Napoli ended the game with ten men following the dismissal of defender Paolo Cannavaro. Cannavaro is therefore suspended for Milan’s visit to Naples.

Milan kept pace with early leaders Lazio when they beat Chievo Verona 3-1 last weekend. Alexandre Pato’s 18th minute volley from Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s cross put the Rossoneri ahead and the two again combined twelve minutes later to set up the home side’s second. Pato’s country mate Robinho scored a late third in stoppage time- his first league goal for the Rossoneri.

New Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri has had a great start to his reign as manager of the club. Since taking over from Roberto Donadoni, Mazzarri has guided his squad to wins in their last two games. They came from behind to beat Bologna at home and then stunned Fiorentina in Florence on Sunday to pick up their first away win of the season.

Against Bologna, Cristian Maggio struck a late winner, and the midfielder also secured all three points for the Partenopei against his old club Fiorentina after Fabio Quaglirella had missed a penalty in the 80th minute. The two back to back wins have helped Napoli move to ninth in the table, and they are only two points behind Milan going into this game.

Milan, like Napoli, have won their last two league games. They were up against Chievo Verona on Sunday, and fell behind to an early Giampiero Pinzi goal. However defender Alessandro Nesta turned hero for the Rossoneri, scoring two late goals to give Milan their fourth league victory of the season.

Milan were without Massimo Ambrosini for the trip to Chievo, but the midfielder is again available for selection after serving his one match ban. Napoli will have to be wary of the Brazilian duo of Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato, both of whom can individually turn a game on its head.

The two teams met earlier in March this year. That game ended in a goalless stalemate. Napoli have not lost to Milan in the Rossoneri's last three trips to Stadio San Paolo. Watch Napoli vs AC Milan live to see which way this one goes.

Napoli drew 1-1 against Reggina in Calabria last week. Argentine striker Ezequiel Lavezzi cancelled out Bernardo Corradi’s opener for Reggina to give Donadoni a point in his first game in charge of the Partenopei.

Napoli upset Milan 3-1 when the two teams met at Stadio San Paolo last season, but this time it will be more difficult for them to repeat that feat. Napoli have not won in their last ten league games. Salvatore Aronica and Daniele Mannini are suspended, while Luigi Vitale is injured. Defender Leandro Rinaudo has chickenpox, which means he is out too. Donadoni has a fair bit of reshuffling to do in defence.

Milan thrashed Siena 5-1 in the league last week. Pippo Inzaghi scored his 299th and 300th career goals, with Alexandre Pato also netting twice. Andrea Pirlo also scored from the spot as Carlo Ancelotti’s men ran riot at the Artemio Franchi Montepaschi Arena.

Christian Abbati has been ruled out for the rest of the season, which means Dida will stand between the sticks. Kaka came on as a halftime substitute but left midway through the second half as his foot problem flared up again. The Brazilian is a doubt for this game.
