Milan dropped points against Bari at the San Siro last weekend. A cleverly worked free kick from Sergio Almiron allowed Bari to take the lead before the interval. Instead of curling it over the wall, Almiron passed it to the unmarked Gergely Rudolf, who produced a good finish to put his side 1-0 ahead.

Milan sunk deeper into trouble when Zlatan Ibrahimovic was sent off for a foolish swipe at Bari defender Marco Rossi. However the Rossoneri managed to rescue a point eight minutes from time through Antonio Cassano, a former Bari player himself. Cassano volleyed in Robinho’s cross from close range to earn Milan a share of the spoils.

Ibrahimovic has received a three match ban for his foul on Rossi and is therefore suspended this weekend. Apart from Cesare Bovo, Milan’s opponents however have no major suspension worries and will be hopeful of extending their good record at home against Milan, a team they have not lost to at Renzo Barbera in the last five years.

However Palermo’s recent form has been anything but encouraging. They have lost their last five games in Serie A, including a 7-0 loss at the hands of Udinese last month. The arrival of new coach Serse Cosmi has not brought about any change in their fortunes and president Maurizio Zamparini has threatened to quit if his side do not arrest their losing run. Palermo have also failed to score in their last four league games.

The Rosanero snatched an unlikely point against Cagliari last weekend. Goals from Andrea Cossu and Jeda seemed to have left Palermo dead and buried, but last gasp efforts from Fabrizio Miccoli and Abel Hernandez allowed Delio Rossi’s side to come away with a point. However the result saw them slip to fifth in the standings as fellow Champions League hopefuls Sampdoria won their league fixture against Milan.

Milan’s loss to Sampdoria has all but ended the Rossoneri’s title challenge this season. Leonardo’s men are now six points behind leaders Roma with four to play. Against Samp, they lead 1-0 at the break thanks to Marco Borriello’s opener, but conceded twice in the second half, including a dramatic stoppage time goal from Giampaolo Pazzini, to allow Samp to emerge winners.
