Juventus squandered a two goal lead to draw 2-2 against Chievo Verona on Monday night. The draw all but extinguished the Bianconeri’s aspirations of Champions League football next season and left gaffer Luigi Del Neri’s future in Turin under threat.
Against Chievo, Juventus took the lead from the penalty spot through Alessandro del Piero. Del Piero netted from twelve yards out after Simone Pepe was adjudged to have been fouled in the area. Five minutes before the hour mark, Juve doubled their advantage. Del Piero produced a great pass for striker Alessandro Matri, who kept his cool and slotted home to make it 2-0 in favour of the home side.
However what should have been an easy game to seal turned into a nightmare for Juventus in the space of two second half minutes. First, Fernando Uribe netted from close range after Gennaro Sardo’s shot had rebounded off the post. Then, seconds later, Sardo himself equalised as the Juve defence was caught napping.
Parma could have assured their place in Serie A next season with a win over Bologna last weekend but the in form outfit had to make do with a goalless draw. The stalemate brought an end to Parma’s three game winning run in the league, which included the scalps of Inter, Udinese and Palermo. The Gialloblu are currently seventh from bottom, but are not too far away from the drop zone.

Parma were pipped to fourth place by Roma, who beat them 2-0 on Match Day 17. Second half goals from Nicolas Burdisso and Matteo Brighi allowed the Giallorossi to overcome Parma 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico.
Massimo Paci was sent off late in the second half against Roma and is suspended for this game. Joining him on the sidelines will be defender Alessandro Lucarelli, who will be serving a one match ban after accumulating his share of yellows.
Juventus suffered their second straight league defeat a fortnight ago as Catania brought the Bianconeri to their knees in Turin. It was the Sicilian outfit’s first win over Juve in more than four and a half decades and sparked rumours of a crisis at the Old Lady.
Catania were given the chance to go ahead when Juve midfielder Tiago nearly ripped off Nicolas Spolli’s shirt in the box, making Nicola Pierpaoli point to the spot. Jorge Andres Martinez was asked to take the penalty twice, but he was successful on both occasions, thereby putting Catania 1-0 ahead. The Bianconeri equalised when substitute Hasan Salihamidzic latched on to a pass from playmaker Diego and slotted past Mariano Andujar in the Catania goal. However Catania grabbed a famous win when Gianvito Plasmati set Mariano Izco free on the counter, and the Argentine midfielder coolly steered the ball past Alex Manninger.
Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro is suspended for this clash. Sign up today and see Parma vs Juventus live on your computer.
