Roma picked up their eighth win of the season and reduced Milan’s lead at the top of the table to three points when they beat the Rossoneri 1-0 a few weeks ago. The result took Claudio Ranieri’s men to 29 points from 17 games, seven behind Milan.

In form French winger Jeremy Menez provided the assist for Marco Borriello’s winning goal against the Rossoneri. Catania bounced back from successive losses to Juventus and Cagliari as they beat Brescia 1-0 in their last game prior to the winter break. Alejandro Gomez’s cross into the box was poorly cleared by Alessandro Budel and Maxi Lopez capitalised on the error as he scored from close range.

Catania have lost their last six away games to Roma at the Olimpico, with the Giallorossi winning the last four by a single goal margin. Victory for Catania on Thursday would reduce the gap between the Sicilians and Roma in the league to five points.
