Both Roma and Juventus are as good as out of the title race but the two teams are still in the race for a spot in Europe this season. Roma are sixth with 50 points from 30 games while Juventus are one place behind in seventh with 45 from the same number of fixtures.
Before the international break, Roma drew 2-2 with Fiorentina in the league. The Giallorossi had to come back from behind twice in the game and had captain Francesco Totti to thank for both goals. The forward first converted from the spot after John Arne Riise had been fouled in the area and then scored in the 52nd minute, with Riise providing the assist for the goal.
Juventus grabbed a much needed win when they edged out Brescia 2-1 at home a fortnight ago. The Bianconeri went ahead through Serbian winger Milos Krasic, but Citadin Eder nodded in an Adam Vass cross to bring Brescia back on level terms. But Alessandro Del Piero’s fourth goal of the season, scored midway through the second half, restored Juve’s lead and was enough for them to secure victory.
Roma owe most of their success in the league to their form at the Olimpico. The Giallorossi have only lost once in fourteen Serie A games and have collected 31 points out of 50 on home soil. Juventus’ away record is nothing to crow about, but only AC Milan have suffered fewer defeats than the Bianconeri on the road this season.

Roma needed a brace from Julio Baptista to secure a point against Sampdoria last week. Luciano Spalletti is struggling to put together a strong starting XI, with his team having been decimated by injuries and suspensions. Midfielders Daniele de Rossi and David Pizarro are suspended, and so are defenders Solueymane Diamoutene and Marco Motta.
The injury list is also very long-Marco Cassetti, Simone Perrotta, Cicinho, Juan, Rodrigo Taddei and Alberto Aquilani are all unavailable. Worse for Roma, star playmaker and skipper Francesco Totti may not recover in time from his knee injury too. That means a lot depends on the likes of Matteo Brighi, Mirko Vucinic and Baptista.
Juventus thrashed Bologna 4-1 last week, but the Turin side are still seven points behind leaders Inter. Massimo Mutarelli gave Bologna a shock lead, but goals from Hasan Salihamidzic and wonderkid Sebastien Giovinco, along with a late brace from the evergreen Alessandro Del Piero saw Juve run out 4-1 winners.
Juve coach Claudio Ranieri knows that this is a must win game, because Inter are unlikely to drop points against Reggina. Roma are thirteen points behind Juventus in the league.
Juventus should be expected to pick up all three points at the Stadio Olimpico as Roma will not be at full strength. However the Giallorossi are also chasing a Champions League spot, and will give it their all. Watch AS Roma v Juventus in the Serie A to find out the result of this game.
